Centrifugal compressors are known by its energy efficiency, robust, long-lifetime and low maintenance. Disadvantage however is, that the energy efficiency is only at design point. As soon the conditions vary, like fluctuations on flow, the energy efficiency drops. On top, the regulation or turn-down of a centrifugal air-compressor is limited (20-30%). Below 70%-80% of its capacity, the centrifugal air-compressor will regulate its capacity by blowing off to atmosphere and wasting a lot of energy ! Adding an efficient volumetric compressor like an Industrial Reciprocating compressor, can reduce a lot of blow-off or reduce the carbon footprint of the installation ! This we call the RecipTur concept !
